Just north of Richmond, off I-95 in Doswell, Kings Dominion is a premier amusement park with some amazing roller coasters, awesome rides, live shows and family attractions for all ages! And during the summer, this park also has a huge water park attraction - WaterWorks with wave pools, waterslides, lazy river rides and children's splash-filled pools, all for the price of park admission, which is like getting two parks for one price!
The opening volley in the 2010 season at Kings Dominion is the newest attraction at the park - The Intimidator 305! It's the tallest and fastest gravity driven roller coaster on the East Coast and will scream along 5,100 feet of steel track at 92 MPH! At a whopping 305 feet tall, Intimidator will be the BIGGEST and BADDEST steel roller coaster in the Mid-Atlantic! Considered a Giga-Coaster, according to Guinness World Records, The Intimidator 305 belongs to the family of ultra high coasters with a first drop of 300 feet or more resulting in a train speed in excess of 90 MPH.
Another new addition for 2010 is Planet Snoopy, with rides geared to the younger set, that take one up and down or round and round, with plenty to see and do. As with the current KidZville®, mom and dad can ride, too! For an added treat, at Planet Snoopy, a hug from Snoopy, Charlie Brown, Lucy and all their friends can make it a special day for everyone.
For those dare-devil guests, the park has a host of thrill rides including coasters - The Intimidator 305, the coiling Anaconda, Backlot Stunt Coaster, Dominator, the indoor Flight of Fear, Ricochet, Shockwave, Volcano, The Blast Coaster and a trio of amazing "woodies" - Grizzly, Hurler and Rebel Yell! Other thrills include the wild and crazy Viking ship Berserker, another 305 plummet called the Drop Tower, the wet White Water Canyon, the delusional wonder - The Crypt and the pay-per-experience thrill Xtreme SkyFlyer.
Rides the whole family can enjoy together include the huge Americana Ferris Wheel, bobsled style Avalanche, Blue Ridge Tollway, a vintage Carousel, Flying Eagles, Ghoster Coaster, Boo Blasters on Boo Hill, Shenandoah Lumber Company, Wave Swinger and a visit to the parks iconic Eiffel Tower, where all can be seen from one "top of the park" vantage point.
This years live productions include " Signed, Sealed, Delivered" - A celebration of the 50th anniversary of Motown and the music it inspired! "Camp Snoopy Day" with Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus, Sally and America’s favorite beagle, Snoopy taking to the stage to sing and dance their way into the newest kids’ area, Planet Snoopy! And finally "Pulse" with the best of pop music comes alive in this new music revue.
A while guest make a day of it at Kings Dominion, dining couldn't be simpler, with a host of favorite eateries on premises including Chick-fil-A, Cinnabon, Panda Express, Starbucks and Subway. Additional eateries include the Border Cafe, Congo Grill and Pizza, Country Kitchen, Johnny’s, Juke Box Diner, Old Dominion Dairy, Outer Hanks, Sharkey's, Tower Pizza, Trail’s End Grill, Victoria's Pizza and the Wayside Inn. Shops are scattered throughout the park offering souvenirs, gear, clothing, candy and unique gifts.
